Rosita's Sisters Doll Series

Some time ago I received a custom order of a doll called Rosita. The customer gave me the idea and I designed a new doll. Rosita is inspired by the Mexican Catrina from the traditional Day of The Dead and her face reminds so popular sugar skulls. The result was so sweet, cute and a little bit creepy at the same time that I fell in love with this doll! The customer was very pleased too. Just look at her! Wouldn't be you? :)

Dark beauty art dolls: part II Noir

This is the second part about my handmade dark art dolls where I'm goint to tell you about Noir, the sister of Lenore. As her name reveals, her favourite color is black. And would it be very strange if her idol was Morticia Addams?... :)
Before we go with the pictures of Noir, you might want to see some of how these dolls were made, please visit the previous post. There I've explained my creative technique (sculpting + painting + sewing) in some photos from the process.
And now that you know the great time, effort and passion invested here, let's enjoy Noir!

She's the opposite of her sister, she loves fun, dark humor and masquerade parties. She's always ready for innocently devilish plans. She's a bit eccentric and always wants to stand out. Just look at her exravagant hairstyle!...

Dark beauty art dolls: part I Lenore

There's been a while since my last blog entry, which means the creative muse has been very persistent lately; she just didn't give me a respite until the project was oficially finished. If you're following me on Facebook or Instagram you might already noticed some outlines: I've been posting photos from the process. Now I can finally put all the story and pictures together and show you the result of this long concoction!

I present you Lenore and Noir: two sisters and one-of-a-kind dark art dolls inspired by the Mexican sugar skulls and the Day of the Dead. Though in this post I'm going to speak only about Lenore because I don't want to make this entry never-ending, there are too many photos I want to show you so I decided to dedicate a separate post for Noir, Lenore's darksome sister.

But yes, I'm going to show you the creative process which is the same for both dolls. They are handmade in mixed technique: sculpted in paperclay, painted and sewn. Actually, I've never been too much into sculpting, but now I'm in love with it and I'm sure I'll continue to enjoy this creative technique again and again. So many ideas, so little time!...

Dragon eggs for different Easter!

I have always loved fairytales and dragons are one of my favourite fantasy creatures. Meanwhile working on my recent Game of Thrones dolls, especially Khaleesi, the Mother of Dragons, an idea occured to me: why not to make also some dragon eggs?... Daenerys had three so I decided to make also eggs in three different colours.

I was published in Stuffed magazine!

I didn't know about this beautiful magazine full of such a creativity until I received an offer to be published in it! It's all about great number of unimaginable kinds of softies and stuffed dolls and toys and I'm really happy and proud of the opportunity to participate in this issue (Spring 2016, Volume 9, issue 1) among other amazing artists from all around the world.
I could choose any of my softies to be published in this magazine so I chose my little bunnies and Catrina dolls, two completely different ones and special in their own way. I'm not telling more, read the articles! ;)

Daenerys Targaryen inspired art doll

Daenerys Targaryen is playing a great role in the saga therefore a doll inspired by her character couldn't be missed. She is introduced as Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesiof the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons. What a cocktail, right? :D

Khal Drogo inspired art doll

Khal Drogo art doll, inspired by Game of Thrones

Here comes the third doll inspired by the famous TV series: Game of Thrones.
The character of Khal Drogo impressed me more in the TV series than in the books and at the moment this is my favourite doll I've made from this series! :)

Ygritte, the wildling, art doll inspired by Game of Thrones

Ygritte the wildling art doll, inspired by Game of Thrones.

"You know nothing, Jon Snow..." If Ygritte is famous for something, than this phrase comes to our minds in the first place, right? She is a special character even though her role wasn't too long in the saga, she will always live in the heart and the mind of Jon Snow... I loved making her doll! Maybe because I love redheads... :)

Jon Snow inspired sewn art doll.

Jon Snow inspired art doll. Handmade OOAK sewn doll. Night's Watch.

Being a huge fan of Game of Thrones and the Season 6 approaching, I decided (finally!!) to start creating a new series of art dolls inspired by my favourite characters of this saga. My inspiration source are both: the TV series and the books by George R.R. Martin (Yes, I've read them all!)

The Jon Snow inspired doll is the first one I created. As the author and the HBO are still torturing us without telling what is going to happen with Jon, I thought it would be a good moment to immortalize him in the form we used to see him: as the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.
